There is a lot of hype around 3D printing. One thing is for sure, it is going to change the world. Not sure how and when or even by how much, but like most technology it is likely to sneak up on each of us.
Take this story from what they have done at Princeton University to create a Printable Bionic Ear. This thing isn't just a piece of rubber, it is a cartilage substance that has living cells in it with embedded electronics. Instead of cracking a joke about the looks or hearing like a dog what I think about is how smart people with new technology will be able to evolve this over the next ten years. To get you going think about what a state-of-the-art laptop was built with in 2000. . .
I suggest you pay a bit more attention to articles on 3D printing. Next time you see an advertisement for the new level 3-D printers consider ideas you may have. And next time you see someone with a prosthetic, instead of sorrow maybe you should think how that person will be more capable than us total flesh and blood types :-)
